We have completed our portraits on our flash canvas boards. We have learnt so much about colour, proportions and painting techniques. We even found that we have eyebrows, eyelashes and pupils. One child aptly named the pupil a "full-stop!" Great links to literacy learning. Here are photos of our portraits. Aren't we fantastic artists!
Room 1, you are very talented artists! I love the way you've created beautiful backgrounds that make your portraits stand out.
ReplyDeleteMrs Hughes :-)
Thank you - we used Van Gogh as our inspiration and tried small brush strokes to add texture. We all used the 3 primary colours in our backgrounds in different combinations.
ReplyDeleteWow! What amazing artists you are. Room 5 would love you to share your portraits with us. We are just beginning to paint ours and would really love you to share your experience with us.
ReplyDeleteSure thing - it will be good for us to talk about our experience to help consolidate the skills for our next painting adventure. We will invite you to Room 1 soon:)
ReplyDeleteWhat great portraits Room 1. I like the 3D effect you have achieved by shading around the nose. Room 4 will be interested to see your blog and art work.

ReplyDeleteWe are really impressed at the talent in Room 1. Your portraits are fantastic. We can't wait to get Lachy's home an up on the wall.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments from home. We took our portraits to Room 7 and Room 5 today and talked about what we have learned. What a clever bunch of 5 year olds we have! It was great to hear them talking about Van Gogh's small brush strokes, what secondary colours they made by mixing primary colours, where to place features to create realism etc. Ask your child to share with you their learning. We will invite you all soon to view our art as we are working on staging a whole school exhibition. Watch this space!
ReplyDeleteRoom One! What beautiful and well presented portraits you have created. A lot of planning and time has obviously been taken with fantastic results.
